The Irony of the Information Age
The irony of the Information Age is the ability to rage against the social injustices of the day with more precise data and dialogue while freely ignoring our own poverty of spirit and rarely, if ever, mourning the condition of our own soul.
We’ve never, as a society, been more connected to and aware of the sins of others while being more disconnected from our own state of being. The self-righteous arrogance this duality can produce, apart from God’s help, is frightening to consider.
The Church stands against this rising tide of darkness by expressing the honest truth about our own heart condition and the answer we’ve found via grace and the gospel of Jesus Christ. We answer judgement with mercy, arrogance with humility, coldness with the fiery love of Jesus.
The way forward for the Church in this age is as “salt and light”, displaying the Beatitudes of Jesus, which is the living expression of His beauty.
